David A. Miller

Salmon & Sons Obituary
Notice is given that the paradigm shift felt on November 18, 2019, was the result of the passing of DAVID ALLEN MILLER, beloved husband of Wendy JoAnn Miller.

Although he survived being a Marine in Vietnam, cancer, being struck by lightning – twice, rattle snake encounters and a massive heart attack, he truly went against all odds and passed away, without a fuss or even a cuss, in his sleep at home.

His children are slightly concerned that he may actually be chasing a PINK/Air Supply concert tour or that he finally won the 649 Lotto, faked his own death and has fled to Wyoming to search for dinosaur bones. Scenarios that feel more real than the present.

Born to Marjorie and Bill Miller on August 20, 1948, in Rupert, Idaho (some may be old enough to recall that paradigm shift as well), Dave learned how to accidentally get a pitch fork stuck in the hind end of a cow and get it removed before his Dad saw, and mastered water skiing in the irrigation canals pulled by the fastest Idaho farm trucks.

Dave tricked the love of his life, Wendy Jo Miller, into marriage on June 10, 1972, wowing her with a diamond that he weaseled into a box of cracker jacks as the prize. She tricked him into moving back to Canada. They planted roots in Coalhurst, Alberta, and raised three magnificent children who never caused mischief.

As an engineer for Canadian Pacific Railway for 28 years, he mastered the art of creative cussing and not sleeping; however, the real benefits of being master of the train whistle was that it provided him the means to open the Bank of Dave, his children being his best clients. He is the reigning champion of “Loudest Spectator” at sporting events, both live and on TV, and indulged his children with extended motivational speeches and gems of lifelong wisdom, like “People In Hell Want Ice Water.” His motto was “work hard, play harder.” He highlighted this on many family trips, including an epic family excursion to China, showing off his water skiing skills in jeans, and on countless 4 wheeling/rock hunting adventures. Just when he didn’t think life could get any sweeter, he became a Grandpa.

The Man, The Myth, The Legend, is survived by his favorite child, Nichole Miller Mecham (Devin Mecham), his extremely handsome son with perfect hair, Aaron Miller (Shauna), and his over achiever stop-making-the-rest-of-us-look-bad son, Doctor Logan Miller (Lindsey Miller), his partner in crime and much younger brother, Dean Miller (Shawna Miller), his spoiled dog Charlie, who really really misses sharing supper, and in all sincerity, his stalwart and eternal companion of 47 years, Wendy Miller, whom our hearts break for the most. Dave has also left behind 13 grandkids who tipped the scales on his happiness, and a life time of rocks. So. Many. Rocks.

Official notice is given that the Bank of Dave is Closed. Old Man Miller has left the building.

David is buried in the Archmount Cemetery, Lethbridge, Lethbridge Census Division, Alberta, Canada.
