I don't know much about Jessie's life.  I believe he lost his legs in VietNam. And then, like so many vets, he had trouble with meds and life afterwards.  He had been a friend in junior high and I remember a time in Government class when he finally told about how he was treated although he had lived in the area his whole life and was not one of the "migrant workers" with whom he shared a language ability. He had a profound affect on me with those statements.

Jessie was a dear freind. I used to go over to his house around dinner time because his Mother was a tremendous cook. It was my introduction to real Mexican food. She made tortillas and sauces and enchiladas and wow, it was really delicious. I didn't see him after High School because I left Idaho, but I consider him a freind and remember him as funny and a good guy through and through.

I knew Jessie through wrestling. He was a good competiteor, and worked hard. Once when I was shipping out at the Greyhound station in Burley, Jessie was being helped off the bus from the VA. We shook hands and parted, no words said.
