Delores Smith Pedersen

There were many wonderful teachers who inspired their love of
teaching to give me a purpose of knowing that I could have the ability to teach others. Mr. Stocks taught me that I could always have a song in my heart, which I have been able to teach my students. I had great friends who were always there to lift me up and helped me keep going. We had wonderful dances in the gym and it was fun to decorate the gym to make it look like a fairy land instead of a basketball court. It seemed like I was always doing something with music.

After High School, I went to Ricks College and then on to BYU
graduating in Elementary Education with a minor in music. After
Dan graduated in 1973 we moved to Las Vegas for his first job and have lived there and raised our four children. I have taught school and lately became a substitute teacher for CCSD. We have lived in Las Vegas 43 years.

We have witnessed our children excelling in their chosen fields. The birth of many grandchildren. Last summer I was diagnosed with breast cancer and had radiation therapy and then have developed other health problems. Since we have lived in Vegas the last ten years with no children around, we have just relocated to American Fork, Utah and thankful to be around family and grandchildren.

My father drew a homestead in 1955 and we grew up on our farm doing all the work that farm kids did. The older I get the more I appreciate my heritage. I am so glad I was taught to work and love it. After my dad retired from working at the US Post Office they moved to Prove, Utah before passing away a few years ago. All my siblings have moved from the area. We still have Dan's brothers that live in the area, and we still have special friends that still live in the area.
